It is with great honor that we induct Ron Clark into the NSA Canada Hall of Fame in both the Umpire and Builders Categories.

It is with great honor that we induct Ron Clark into the NSA Canada Hall of Fame in both the Umpire and Builders Categories.
Ron has been a key figure in the foundation of NSA Canada. Back in 1996, I was running a 148-team tournament over the August long weekend in a small town called Nanton, located about an hour south of Calgary. At the time, there was only one other organization, and just a week before the event, they came to me with impossible demands to provide umpires. Nanton was a small town with only 1200 people, and the two small motels in town were booked a year in advance. The additional demands for accommodations and unbudgeted travel costs put the event in jeopardy.
That’s when I received a call from Ron Clark, who assured me he could get umpires for the event. His crew would camp and cover all the games. When Ron and his team arrived, we had 12 diamonds running with the first game starting at 6:30 a.m. and the last at 8:30 p.m. Ron had a total of 12 umpires, and they stayed on their diamonds for four straight days, ensuring every game ran smoothly.
After the event, the other organization learned of Ron’s efforts and made the decision to suspend him and his crew for life. Feeling guilty that these umpires had lost their regular league and tournament opportunities for stepping up at the last minute, I took it upon myself to ensure they could continue doing what they loved. That winter of 1997, I began finding diamonds, organizing leagues, and booking tournaments. And so, NSA Canada was born.
Thank you, Ron, for being there from the very beginning.
